The EXPOAGRO 2017 was the most successful ever. This event took place in San Nicolás, a small town located 250 kms northeast of Buenos Aires city, between March 7th to 11th.
This year 380 exhibitors participated in the event, record number compared to 250 from last year. The show displayed in 180.000 m2 area vs 130.000 m2 from last year.
Banks from both government and private sectors offered different and flexible credits for small and medium farmers, it will for sure boost investment in new machinery and technologies needed to line-up and close the gap in terms of agro-technologies in Argentina.
One of the first decisions of the brand-new Macri government in December 2015 was to release wheat and corn retentions and reduce soya bean prices. Another important one was the end of the currency rate split. Now the farmers have the same dollar rate for what they buy than for what they sell. That is the biggest stimulus agroindustry needs to invest in technology, which is the genuine source of competitive advantage.
The Argentinean president, Mauricio Macri and his comitive also visited the show granting a well-deserved celebration closing. Macri is obsessive to reduce poverty rates in the country by boosting investments in the agriculture. He ratified his vision that agroindustry is the way and, no doubt that a great step, gigantic, took place in Expoagro 2017.
This year, Baccara had a passive role in this event, some of its irrigation products were shown at a local distributor booth. As a matter of fact, Baccara the only brand with products in this fair. We are confident that the agricultural sector in Argentina will promote more market development and surely Baccara will take an active part in this area.
